Meet The Team
Benjamin Zephaniah Jo Klaces - Director

Jo comes from an eclectic employment background, from stable hand, via residential children's homes and arts administration to teaching English in a sixth form college for 12 years and on to be Director of the NLA.

"I really do believe that children need literacy for life and that everyone engaged in helping children to acquire literacy skills is involved in a very, very important task. It is the NLA's aim to help support as much of that work, in as many different and innovative ways, with as many children as we can."

Benjamin Zephaniah Paula Edmondson - Project Manager

Paula is an educator of some 18 years. A primary practitioner with some experience at secondary, FE and HE, her work has involved working with business, EAL children and supplementary schools. She has worked extensively with schools, families and the community on raising the attainment of African Caribbean learners in particular. Currently, Paula is working on REAL (Raising Expectations and Achievement in Literacy), an ICT and Literacy programme for years five and six, developed by the National Literacy Association.

Benjamin Zephaniah Wendy Easthope - Administration Manager

Wendy brings with her over 22 years of experience from education and commerce. As a parent with two children, one at senior school level and one still in primary school, she understands the importance of literacy. Wendy brings a very positive nature to her environment and hopes to bring some corporate organisation to NLA.
