The Future of Reading
The National Literacy Association has teamed up with The Education Show to bring you 'The Future of Reading' Literacy Forum, held on Friday 5th March 2010, NEC Birmingham.    Taking part in the day are many well known names from the world of reading and children’s literature, including former children’s laureate Michael Rosen, Dr Rona Tutt OBE, chair of the board of trustees at the National Literacy Association, novelist Aidan Chambers and Wendy Cooling, who set up the Bookstart Project. Attend the forum and help shape a ‘manifesto’ publication. This will be co-ordinated by the National Literacy Association and sponsored by Pearson and will reflect the views of delegates and presenters on the day. The aim of the manifesto will be to change attitudes towards reading in the UK, in order to improve literacy rates and encourage more children to read for pleasure.   If you want to make a difference to literacy and have your views included in the manifesto, visit www.education-show.com/reading and book your tickets . The cost of the full day programme, including lunch is £150 + vat per person.    After the Forum, delegates are invited to attend a drinks reception. See you there!

Funding

As you can see from our news and projects we have a great deal of work to do. Many children are still leaving school without adequate literacy skills and although we have been successful in achieving funding for specific projects, we could do so much more with adequate core funding. If you feel you can help us to locate such funds please do get in touch; we'd be delighted to hear from you .
