National Literacy Association
Welcome

Artwork by Mackenzie ThorpeThe NLA works with children and young people who are underachieving in literacy. As one of our patrons, Bel Mooney said:

'The work of the NLA is of national importance -promoting the liberating role of literacy in the lives of all children, especially some of the most disadvantaged.'

The National Literacy Association works in partnership with a range of organisations to promote awareness of and support children's literacy needs.

As well as campaigning for the needs of the 20% of children who continue to under-achieve, we do practical work in schools, with children in public care, with parent groups and in the wider community.

We also produce a range of resources which are distributed free of charge to schools, parent groups and others.
